Capability[]

Because of the cartridge slot on the back and the front-mounted flip-top CD-ROM drive, Multi-Mega can play both Mega Drive and Mega-CD games. Unlike the portable Sega Nomad, it can only be used as a game console if an external power supply and television/monitor cables are connected. The Multi-Mega is powered by two AA batteries, which will quickly drain if high-quality batteries, such as lithium, are not used.

Sega 32x Compatibility[]

The Sega 32X accessory is not authorized for use in the United States. The 32X and Multi-Mega combo works in Europe but not in the United States. Caution must be used with the hardware to avoid dropping the unit or doing anything else that will cause the weight of the 32X to shift. Because none of the clamps included to secure the 32x with other Mega Drive / Genesis consoles are suitable for the Multi-mega, it is much more prone to breakage.
